A letter from Roger Knoebber to his sister Sarah Knoebber, dated 1 May 1985, including its envelope and a copy of the letter.

The first paragraph is about Sarah's glass art, and about art in general.

The second paragraph comments on Sarah's studio, community, and living.

After a brief apology for his mood, Roger discusses his day-to-day activities: writing for 4-6 hours a day, going to cafes and bars, conversing with locals in his intermediate French, trying to find sexual partners. At this point he lives on $438 per month, and has no desire to return to the United States.

The final paragraph is Roger recounting in colorful phrases the story of Sarah in the Bible.
